Gruver, Beloit Snappers triumph

— Steven Gruver allowed just five hits and one run in 8 1/3 innings as the Beloit Snappers defeated the Quad Cities River Bandits, 8-1, on Thursday in Midwest League baseball.

Gruver struck out seven and didn’t yield a walk to improve to 4-4 on the season.


Beloit’s Eddie Rosario hit a two-run home run in the third inning, and Matthew Koch connected for a two-run homer in the sixth.


The teams wrap up their series tonight.
