Man pleads guilty to bank robberies
ELKHORN — A Genoa City man, Joshua Barrigar, pleaded guilty Wednesday to bank robberies in Lake Geneva and Kenosha.
Barrigar, 32, pleaded guilty to armed robbery in connection with Oct. 17, 2011, robbery of the PNC Bank in Lake Geneva. He pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery of a financial institution in connection with the Kenosha bank robbery in Twin Lakes Feb. 6. Prosecutors in Walworth and Kenosha counties agreed to consolidate the cases in Walworth County.
The charges each carry a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison. A charge of robbery with the threat of force was dismissed, but will be read into the court record allowing the judge to consider it at sentencing.
Barrigar is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered.
The pleas were the result of an agreement between prosecutors and Barrigar. The agreement does not preclude prosecutors from arguing for and recommending a sentence.
In the criminal complaint, a Lake Geneva police officer said Barrigar admitted he also robbed the Chase Bank in Lake Geneva on Feb. 10.
