Milton Raptors clinch title share

MILTON — The Milton Junction Pub Raptors clinched at least a share of the Rock River League Southwest Division baseball title Sunday with a 10-8 victory over the Janesville Aces.

Milton (12-2) has a two-game lead over Janesville (10-4) with two games remaining.

The Raptors trailed, 8-7, entering the bottom of the eighth inning before scoring three times. Dave Sagitis hit a leadoff single, T.J. Klawitter and Joe Shere followed with back-to-back doubles and, two outs later, Tom Scalissi connected for an RBI triple.

Scalissi’s two-run double highlighted Milton’s five-run first inning.

Gabe DeMarco hit a three-run home run in the first for Janesville.

Raptors pitcher Sean McCann, in relief of starter Joe Shere, struck out seven of the nine batters he faced in the last three innings.

The Raptors play Sunday at Verona against Madison Laurel Tavern. A victory clinches the outright division title for Milton.
