Holiday events likely to impact traffic
JANESVILLE Janesville Police are reminding motorists there might be traffic delays because of this week's special events.
Wednesday, July 4
The Rock Aqua Jays will be hosting the Independence Day on the Rock.
Starting at 8 p.m., several areas will be closed to traffic because of the fireworks display.
They include:
-- Veterans Memorial Bridge on Memorial Drive, including all ramps leading to the bridge.
-- North Franklin Street between Mineral Point and Highland avenues.
-- The bicycle trail from Mineral Point Avenue/Franklin Street to the area just north of Veterans Memorial Bridge.
The fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
After the fireworks, motorists should expect delays when leaving Traxler Park. To keep traffic flowing smoothly, motorists heading south on North Main Street will not be allowed to turn left onto Centerway. Motorists heading south on North Parker Drive will not be allowed to turn right onto Centerway.
