Milton High School will be offering eight class hours a day instead of seven starting this fall.

Principal Jeremy Bilhorn says the goal is to offer students more options. Bilhorn says administrators have heard from students, who took college preparatory classes, and went on to study business in college, but never had a chance to take a business elective while in high school. He says the same has been heard from engineering students and others.

He says the plan should also provide time for academically challenged students to get more help. Bilhorn says an eight period class day is not unusual, and administrators have been studying similar programs at other schools over the last year.

The announcement was made during this week's school board meeting.
