Robberies reported Saturday on Janesville’s east side

— The Janesville Police Department is investigating an armed robbery and an attempted robbery reported Saturday night on the city’s east side.

At 7:10 p.m., police were dispatched to Pizza Hut, 3507 E. Milwaukee St., Janesville. A man entered the store and demanded money. A female employee stepped into a back room, and the man left without any money, according to a news release from the police department.

The man was described as a white man between 4 feet 9 inches and 5 feet tall. He was wearing a light blue sweatshirt; dirty, torn gloves and a large, knit stocking hat pulled to his chin.

Eyeholes were cut into the hat, according to the news release.

At 8:28 p.m., police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery at Family Dollar, 5 S. Harmony Drive, Janesville. There a man was reported to have displayed a gun and fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the release. He went east on foot.

That suspect is described as white and possibly in his early 20s. He is between 5 feet 1 inch and 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was wearing a large, dark gray coat, baggy cargo jeans with silver stitching and buttons on the back, a fleece ski mask with vertical eyeholes and gray ski gloves.

Nobody was injured during either incident.
