Balance scoring sparks win for UW-Whitewater

— UW-Whitewater downed visiting UW-Oshkosh, 70-56, Wednesday in WIAC women’s basketball.

The victory improves Whitewater to 5-3 in the WIAC and 13-4 overall. Oshkosh falls to 1-7 and 7-10.

Cortney Kumerow scored 13 points, Kaitlyn Thill added 12 points and Chatel Burg and Mary Merg scored 10 points apiece for Whitewater. Megan Wenig scored a game-leading 17 points for Oshkosh.

Whitewater made 14 of 26 shots in the first half to take a 34-26 lead. The Warhawks made 26 of 48 shots, including 6 of 15 three-point attempts for the game.

The Warhawks travel to UW-Stout on Saturday.
