La Follette rides Bentley past Craig

— Rudy Bentley was more than visiting Janesville Craig could handle Saturday in a 76-67 loss to Madison East in Big Eight Conference boys basketball.

The loss drops Craig to 2-7 in the Big Eight and 2-11 overall. East improves to 4-5 and 5-7.

Bentley spearheaded East’s charge with a game-high 21 points, including four three-point baskets. Craig trailed 39-30 at the half and 55-43 after three quarters.

The Cougars sank nine three-point baskets, but the Purgolders answered with 10.

Brett Pickarts scored 19 points to provide the bulk of Craig’s offense, but was the lone Cougar to reach double figures. Pickarts sank five three-pointers.
