Gophers upset Hoosiers

— Austin Hollins scored a career-high 18 points to help Minnesota upset No. 7 Indiana, 77-74, on Thursday night.

Indiana’s Christian Watford could have tied the score but he missed a three-pointer in the closing seconds.

Rodney Williams scored 14 points and Julian Welch added 10 for the Golden Gophers (13-5, 1-4 Big Ten), who had lost four straight. Minnesota made 6 of 13 three-pointers in the first half to take the lead, then maintained it by scoring in the paint and grabbing 12 offensive rebounds in the second half.

Indiana freshman Cody Zeller matched a season high with 23 points for the Hoosiers (15-2, 3-2).


-- UW-Milwaukee 58, Wright State 38—Tony Meier scored 16 points, making four three-pointers, to lead host UW-Milwaukee.

James Haarsma had 13 points for the Panthers (12-6,

5-1 Horizon League).

AJ Pacher led Wright State (9-10, 4-3) 10 points.

-- Detroit 80, UW-Green Bay 73— Ray McCallum Jr. scored 16 points, and Detroit (9-10, 3-4 Horizon) rallied late to beat host UW-Green Bay.

Alec Brown had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Phoenix (6-10, 2-4), who played a home game for the first time in three weeks. Brennan Cowgill added 13, Terry Johnson 11 and Kiefer Sykes 10.

Doug Anderson and LaMarcus Lowe hit two free throws each to help Detroit knot the score at 66-all with 4:08 remaining.

Calliste’s 3-pointer broke the deadlock, and after two more free throws by Lowe, McCallum drove for his layup to make it 73-66 with 2:25 to play. The Titans protected the lead at the foul line.

Lowe had 13 points and seven rebounds. Eli Holman scored 11 points for Detroit.
