— An Edgerton man didn't get far after he robbed a gas station of cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes early Monday, according to the Edgerton Police Department.

Police took Dustin P. Eron, 30, of 401 N. Second Street, Edgerton, into custody at 12:40 a.m. Monday after a brief confrontation with officers at Central Park in Edgerton, according to a news release from the department.

The arrest came just three minutes after a man robbed Edgerton Kwik Trip at 505 N. Main St.

Clerks at the gas station reported the robber demanded money, lottery tickets and cigarettes, and then left the gas station on foot. During the robbery, he indicated that he was armed but did not show clerks a weapon, according to police reports.

Edgerton police and deputies from the Rock County Sheriff's Office blanketed the area near the gas station and found Eron at the park just a few blocks away, said Edgerton Police Lt. Bob Bolgrihn.

Sheriff's deputies and state troopers happened to be close by when the gas station called in the robbery, Bolgrihn said.

When police found Eron, he still had cash and the stolen items, but he was unarmed, Bolgrihn said. Eron resisted arrest, and officers assisting Edgerton police used a stun gun to subdue him, he said.

No injuries were reported.
