JANESVILLE Five wrestlers went undefeated to lead Janesville Craig to the title at the five-team Cougar Duals on Saturday.
Craig, Beaver Dam and Oregon each finished 3-1, but the Cougars were awarded the championship based on total points scored in four matches. The Cougars beat Beloit Turner , Oregon and Cambridge, but lost to Beaver Dam.
Airk Furseth, Anthony Skrede, Zach Mulrooney, Nate Mather and Dakota Pearson each went 4-0 for the Cougars.
“We wrestled well as a team early,” Craig coach Mark Mullen said. “We didn’t match up with Beaver Dam very well, but we bounced back with a nice win over Oregon, and they had beaten Beaver Dam.
“Any time you can win a tournament, you’ve done some good things, and that was the case today.”
