Whitewater Warhawk women win

— UW-Whitewater rolled past host Edgewood College, 66-49, Wednesday in nonconference women’s baskeball.

Whitewater is 9-4 overall. Edgewood is 4-8.


The Warhawks closed the first half with a 9-0 run for a 27-19 lead and opened the second half with a 11-2 run en route to the victory. Edgewood enjoyed its last lead, 19-18, with four minutes remaining in the first half.


Katie Burton scored 14 points for Whitewater. Teammates Mary Merg and Cortney Kumerow scored 12 points apiece.


Whitewater hosts UW-River Falls at 4 p.m. Saturday.
