Streaking Janesville Jets hold Midwest Division lead
JANESVILLE The Janesville Jets sweep the Chicago Hitmen, 3-1 and 4-2 last weekend to hold a one-point lead over the St. Louis Bandits in the Midwest Division of the North American Hockey League.
The Jets are 24-6-3 with 51 points. The Bandits are 24-6-2 and 50 points. Janesville is on a six-game winning streak, while winning 14 of its last 19 games.
The Jets host the Hitmen at 7 p.m. both this Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, goaltender Tony Kujava became the Jets’ all-time wins leader with 28 to surpass Janesville’s David Jacobson’s 26 wins.
Connor McBride tied former Jet Ross Mauermann of Janesville for the most goals in Jets’ history with 40. Jordan Bancroft is the Jets’ season leader with 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists).
Since his trade from the Amarillo Bulls, forward Darren McCormick has 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists) along with a plus 9 rating in just his first five Jets games. In last Saturday night’s 4-2 victory, Darren had two goals and an assist, along with a plus 4 rating.
