— The Hometown News Group of Sun Prairie will consolidate its printing and inserting operations at the Bliss Communications Printing and Distribution Center in Janesville, Bliss announced Friday.

The printing and distribution center produces the Bliss-owned Gazette and The Monroe Times and produces titles for about 40 other outside customers, including The Watertown Daily Times.

Hometown News Group publishes 10 weekly newspapers covering communities surrounding Madison, including Sun Prairie, McFarland, Monona, Lake Mills, Poynette, DeForest, Lodi, Waunakee, Cambridge, Deerfield and Milton. The company also publishes two weekly shoppers and several specialty publications.

“It’s great to have another publisher put their faith in us and in the capabilities of our team at the printing and distribution center,” Skip Bliss, president and CEO of Bliss Communications, said in a statement.

“We feel that we have a lot to offer the folks at Hometown in terms of cost saving and revenue opportunities that will allow them to really grow their business.”

The first Hometown publications are targeted to roll off the Janesville press the first week of April.
