Matt Smith scored eight points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to lead Elkhorn past host Waterford.

The Wolverines held off the Elks, 62-60, in a Southern Lakes Conference boys basketball game Thursday night.

Zach Fisher hit a three-point basket to give Waterford a

52-46 lead, and the Elks could never erase that deficit.

The Elks did score with less than a second remaining and stole the inbounds pass, but there was not enough time remaining to get off a shot.

Smith finished with 19 points to lead Elkhorn (5-8 in the SLC, 11-10 overall). Danny Dessent and Drew Bryson each contributed 11 points.

Dustin Schindler led the Wolverines (10-3, 14-6) with 15 points.
