East Troy, Clinton clinch titles, other scores

East Troy High put its stamp on the Rock Valley North boys basketball race Thursday night.


The Trojans clinched the North championship with a convincing 75-58 victory at second-place McFarland. East Troy jumped to a 23-10 first-quarter lead and never looked back.


The Trojans are 14-0 in the league and 18-2 overall.


Nate Dodge led five East Troy double-figure scorers with 25 points. He had seven in each of the first two quarters to help the Trojans take a 36-21 halftime lead.


Myles Olsen added 14, Brett Prahl had 11, while Alex Prahl and Tanner Plomb each had 10.


Adam Schluter led the Spartans (11-3, 14-6) with 19 points. Nik Ewelt added 15, and Brandon Doll had 10.

-- Clinton 75, Big Foot 44—Clinton rolled to a 10-point lead after the first quarter and steadily pulled away en route to the Rock Valley South victory.


The win clinched the RVC South title for the Cougars.


Cody Risseeuw scored 20 points, Justin Langley had 16, and Chandler Stevenson added 13 to lead Clinton (19-1, 13-1 league).


Kenneth Walker scored 16 points for Big Foot (3-17, 2-12).

-- Whitewater 40, Edgerton 29—Paul Pelayo ignited a second-half comeback, as the visiting Whippets charged past Edgerton.


Pelayo scored eight of his 12 points in the third quarter, when Whitewater erased an 18-10 halftime deficit. The Whippets took a 26-24 lead into the third quarter, and then made 12 of 13 free throws to pull away in the final period.


Austin Morkved added eight points as Whitewater improved to 5-9 in the Rock Valley North and 6-14 overall.


The Crimson Tide dropped to 5-9, 6-14.
