Bluebirds win with a shutout

— The Janesville Bluebirds ended the regular season on a high note Saturday.

Dane Tyler’s hat trick lifted Janesville’s high school boys co-op hockey team to a 9-0 Big Eight Conference win over Madison Memorial at the Janesville Ice Arena.


Janesville (13-10-1) allowed only four shots on goal.


“It was Senior Day, and although the seniors on the team only scored one goal, they set up a lot of other ones,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “Defensively, that was probably as well as we’ve played all season.


“Our sectional is wide open, so hopefully, this builds a little confidence going into the tournament.”


Janesville hosts Whitefish Bay on Thursday at the Janesville Ice Arena in a WIAA regional final game.
