Memorial rolls to win over Janesville Craig, other scores

Madison Memorial took a while to get going, but the Spartans pulled away from visiting Janesville Craig in a Big Eight Conference boys basketball game Thursday night.

Seniors Jamar Morris had 18 points, and Junior Lomomba added 15 as the Big Eight-leading Spartans rolled to a 70-43 victory over the visiting Cougars.

Craig trailed, 12-8, after one quarter, but the Spartans then built the lead to 34-18 by halftime. Morris had eight points and Lomomba seven in the second quarter.

Brendan Ortiz added 10 points for the Spartans, who went to 14-0 in the Big Eight and 17-1 overall.

Junior center William Eden led the Cougars with 11 points, including all seven of Craig’s made free throws. Brett Pickarts added 10, but Craig fell to 3-11 in the Big Eight and 3-15 overall.

Craig hosts Middleton on Saturday night.

Josh Morgan had 17 points for La Follette, while Jalen Elliott led Beloit with 15.

-- Sun Prairie 48, Middleton 46 (OT)—Visiting Sun Prairie made six free throws in overtime in holding off Middleton in a Big Eight thriller Thursday night.

Junior Nick Fuller had 21 points to lead Sun Prairie, while Derek Rongstad paced Middleton with 12 points.
