Bryson sparks UW-Whitewater Warhawks

PLATTEVILLE — Eric Bryson is starting to find his range.

The UW-Whitewater sophomore and Elkhorn High graduate had a career-high 21 points Wednesday night to lead the Warhawks to a 77-58 WIAC win over UW-Platteville.

Whitewater (20-2, 11-2) remained one-half game behind UW-Stevens Point in the WIAC and tied for second-place with UW-River Falls.

The Warhawks led by six at halftime but blew the game open early in the second half with a 15-3 run.

Madison East graduate Chris Davis, the WIAC’s leading scorer, also scored 21 points for Whitewater. Janesville Craig graduate Lucas Burns had five points for the Warhawks.

Monroe High graduate Brett Stangel had 10 points for Platteville (12-11, 6-8).

Whitewater plays at UW-Superior on Saturday.

Kumerow leads women

-- Whitewater 62, Platteville 48—Cortney Kumerow was 7-for-7 from the field en route to a game-high 17 points in leading the Warhawks to the WIAC win.

Whitewater (17-5, 9-4) opened up a 10-point halftime lead and was never threatened in the second half. The Warhawks shot 50 percent (26-52) from the field and outrebounded Platteville (8-14, 4-9) 40-27. Chantel Burg had 10 rebounds for the Warhawks.
