— UW-Rock County lost a shootout to visiting UW-Sheboygan, 101-94, Monday in nonconference men’s basketball.

The loss drops Rock County to 7-15 overall.

The Rattlers made one of 19 three-point attempts and three of 12 free throws to Sheboygan’s 18 for 27 from the line.

Despite poor long-range shooting, and a disadvantage at the foul line, Rattlers coach Scott Lee lamented his team’s lack of defense.

“Neither team played defense,” Lee said. “We cannot figure out why our guys were so inept on defense.’’

The Rattlers trailed 83-68 with eight minutes remaining, but cut the deficit to 97-94 with 30 seconds left. Sheboygan hit four straight free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Jordan Conway scored 22 points to lead Rock County. Jon Condon added 17, Joe Benson scored 12, and Andy Hanus chipped in 10 for Rock County.
