— Police think alcohol was a factor in a crash that injured a Janesville man Sunday when his car landed in a residential yard about a mile north of Afton.

Rance J. Gehri, 53, Janesville, at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday was driving north on County D near West Cemetery Road. His car crossed the centerline, hit the embankment at 4228 S. County D, Janesville, and flew through the air into a large tree, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

Gehri was found unconscious in his vehicle. Janesville Fire Department paramedics extricated him from his 1994 Ford Probe and he was admitted to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, with serious injuries, according to the release.

Gehri was arrested on a charge of second-offense drunken driving, and cited for operating after revocation, operating left of center and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Gehri was listed in fair Monday morning at the hospital.
