Elks rule Southern Lakes swimming

JEFFERSON — Sam Johnson and the Elkhorn High boys swim team dominated Saturday’s Southern Lakes Conference meet.

The Elks, behind two individual wins from Johnson, finished with 579 points to win the seven-team title. The co-op team of Badger/Big Foot, Wilmot/Westosha was second with 416 and the co-op team of Platteville/Lancaster was third with 361.

Johnson, a sophomore, won the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle, as well as anchoring the victorious 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. Elkhorn’s Matt Zimmerman won the 100 butterfly.

Badger/Big Foot’s Joe Shane won both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, while Delavan-Darien’s Zachariah Karbash won the 100 backstroke.
