Turnovers doom Janesville Bluebirds
The Janesville Bluebirds struggled Thursday night.
Sun Prairie scored 1:22 into the game and coasted to a 6-2 win over the Bluebirds in a Big Eight Conference game at the Janesville Ice Arena.
The Cardinals led 3-0 after two periods and pushed the lead to 5-0 early in the third. Sun Prairie scored three shorthanded goals.
“We had too many turnovers that came back to hurt us,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “There were some chances we missed in the first two periods, but their goalie (Tony Francois) played well. He made some great saves.
“You can’t turn the puck over in your own end as much as we did tonight. That was the difference in the game.”
Ethan Eno and D.J. Mussey scored goals for the Bluebirds, who host the co-op team of Madison East/La Follette at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Janesville Ice Arena.
