Carroll sweeps Beloit in Midwest Conference games

Carroll University pulled away from a 54-all tie in the final 3:56 to beat host Beloit College, 67-62, in a Midwest Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Flood Arena.

Carroll never trailed after taking a 47-45 lead on Kevin Hurd’s three-pointer with 11:25 left in the game, but the visitors never led by more than five.

Alec Molter scored 19 points, while Hurd and Andrew Rumler each added 12 for Carroll (6-6 in MWC, 10-7 overall).

David Bremner had 18 points and seven rebounds to lead the Buccaneers (4-8, 5-12). Michael Horton added 15 points and five rebounds, and James Lazarcik had 11 points.

Carroll women down Beloit

Carroll University used a 19-4 run in the second half to send Beloit College to an 82-67 defeat Wednesday in Midwest Conference women’s basketball.

The loss drops Beloit to 1-11 in the conference and 3-13 overall. Carroll improves to 7-5 and 8-9.

Candace Fox scored 17 points for Beloit and teammate Lauren McNana added 15 points. Janelle Groer scored 22 points for Carroll.
