Three-pointers drop Parker girls

The three-point shot was the difference Thursday night in a battle of unbeaten girls basketball teams.

Wilmot made seven shots from beyond the arc in holding off Janesville Parker, 52-50, in the second game of the La Crosse Logan Holiday Tournament.

Sarah Vozel made two free throws with four seconds left to provide the winning margin.

Wilmot tied the game 50-all with 50 seconds left on a three-pointer by Haylee Martin.

Wilmot (9-0) plays host Logan in today's title game. Parker (6-1) plays Kenosha Tremper in today's consolation game.

The Panthers jumped out to a 17-9 lead after one quarter and pushed the margin to 30-18 by half. Parker responded with a 17-7 advantage in the third quarter to cut the deficit to two.

Parker senior Ashley Hartwig led all scorers with 23 points, while sophomore Kathryn Dubanowich added 14.

Kari Clements had 15 to lead Wilmot, including three three-point baskets.

-- East Troy 61, Slinger 21—Breanna Gaspervich and Rachel Atchison scored 19 points each to lead the Trojans to the win in the first game of the Badger Invitational Holiday Tournament.

East Troy (7-0) led 25-2 after the first quarter.

Stephanie Stair added 13 points for the Red Hawks, while Liz Westrick pitched in 12.

Muskego lost despite 10 three-point baskets.
