11. The Republicans don't want to solve the fiscal cliff problem because doing so would result in growth in the economy, which they feel would benefit President Obama. Consistent with their publicly stated desire for Obama to fail, they would prefer to go off the cliff and follow it with an effort to blame Obama and the Democrats.

Obama made a lot of promises both during the first campaign and after that he didn't keep. Who believes anything he says.
Also, saw the film of the union thugs in Michigan tearing down a tent with people in it because they didn't like what they believed in. Leftist union thugs only believe they have a right to an opinion and if you differ with them they believe a physical show of strength is the solution.
