— An Illinois woman convicted of reckless homicide by selling heroin to a Walworth County man who died of an overdose will spend five years in prison.

Lisa C. Jurgens, 29, Crystal Lake, Ill., was also sentenced to 10 years extended supervision after incarceration. She pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide Nov. 28 and was sentenced by Walworth County Judge John Race. She faced a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.

Codie Krueger of Spring Prairie township was found dead Aug. 1 of a drug overdose. The Walworth County coroner reported that Krueger died of “a lethal injection of heroin.”

Officers used text messages on Krueger’s cell phone to determine who sold him the heroin. The messages led to Jurgens, who was arrested by officers of the Walworth County Drug Unit on Aug. 2.
