Snappers bat down T-Rattlers

— Drew Leachman and Tyler Grimes each drove in two runs and Eddie Rosario was 3-for-5 as Beloit dropped Wisconsin, 9-2, in a Midwest League game Thursday night.

The Snappers had 12 hits, scoring twice each in the second, third and ninth innings and three times in the eighth.

Rosario had two doubles, and Grimes had a two-run homer in the second to open the scoring.

Taylor Rogers earned the win, coming into the game in the fifth inning.

Beloit closes out its series with Wisconsin tonight. The Snappers return home to play Quad Cities at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Sano, Williams honored

Beloit Snapper third baseman Miguel Sano has been selected as the Midwest League Prospect of the Year by the 16 league managers.

In addition, Snapper pitcher Corey Williams has been named the league's left-handed reliever on the year-end all-star squad.

Sano, a 6-foot-3, 242-pound 19-year-old prospect, is the runaway leader in both homers and RBIs in the league.

Sano leads the league with 27 homers, eight more than any other player. His 98 RBIs leads the league by 15.

Sano has scored 74 times, has 117 hits, including 28 doubles and four triples to go along with his 27 homers, and has eight stolen bases, while hitting .260.

Williams, 22, who was drafted in the third round out of Vanderbilt University, is 4-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 46 games.

He has 16 saves. In 60 1-3 innings, he has struck out 64 and walked 33.
