Janesville Craig's girls volleyball team continues to play well in the early season.

The Cougars swept past Madison West, 3-0, in a Big Eight match Thursday to improve to 2-0 in the conference.

Craig held on for a 25-21 win in game one before cruising to victories in games two and three.

"This was a good win because West is always a good team in our conference," Craig coach Blake Budrow said. "We were able to win game one, and then we played really solid in the next two games.

"Ali (Calkins) and Ally (Raymond) really played well in the middle for us tonight. They both hit some hard shots while also hitting some nice off-speed shots."

-- Memorial 4, Parker 0—Janesville Parker split with Madison Memorial during a weekend tournament, but the Spartans swept the Vikings in a Big Eight match Thursday in the Parker gym.

Parker fell, 25-11, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20.

"Close isn't going to do the job," Parker coach Dave Lehmann said. "We just can't get over the hump."

The Vikings are 3-7-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big Eight.

"We did some things better than we did in the tournament over the weekend," Lehmann said. "But we had problems with other things. It's frustrating. We're hot and cold, hot and cold."

Parker continues Big Eight play next week with matches at West on Tuesday and at Middleton on Thursday. The Parker Invitational is next Saturday.
