— A Beloit man was arrested on multiple charges Wednesday morning after leading Rock County sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Deputies responded to a vandalism call at 3:01 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Brandherm Road in the town of Newark.

Although the perpetrator left before deputies arrived, another deputy located a vehicle deputies suspected was involved. When the deputy began to follow the vehicle, it sped away, leading to a pursuit at speeds up to 80 mph. The pursuit was terminated after deputies obtained the vehicle's license plate number.

Samuel Timmons, 23, Beloit, was arrested later at his home on charges of knowingly fleeing an officer, operating while revoked, failure to stop at a stop sign and disorderly conduct, according to the release.

He was released with a court date.
