Milton City Council votes to begin negotiations on clinic
JANESVILLE The Milton City Council has authorized city administrators to begin negotiations on the potential future home of the Milton Police Department.
City Administrator Jerry Schuetz confirmed the council's decision Thursday afternoon. The motion to enter formal negotiations was approved in a unanimous vote.
The decision was made after the council called a special meeting to tour the building, located at 710 S. Janesville St., Tuesday night, Alderman Don Vruwink said.
The site is a former Dean medical clinic.
The council has been dealing with deteriorating conditions, including a leaking roof and insufficient storage space in the evidence room, at the Milton Police Department's current building for more than a year, Vruwink said.
