River Bandits hold off Snappers

— Kennys Vargas belted a two-run homer in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough as the visiting Beloit Snappers lost, 5-3, Sunday to the Quad Cities River Bandits in Midwest League baseball.

Quad Cities took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second and led 5-1 after six innings. Beloit starter David Hurlbut (5-6) allowed four runs on seven hits through five innings to take the loss.

Beloit took a 1-0 lead on Miguel Sano's 28th homer—his 93rd BBI—in the second inning. Sano also doubled and singled in four at-bats. Vargas hit his 10th homer.
