— A six-run second inning was all Beloit starter David Hurlbut needed as the Snappers defeated visiting Kane County, 9-4, in Midwest League baseball Tuesday night at Pohlman Field.

Hurlbut improved to 4-5 as he pitched 8 2/3 innings. He allowed 10 hits and two walks, while striking out seven to lower his ERA to 2.78.

Wang-Wei Lin led the Beloit offense with three RBIs. He was 2-for-5.

Eddie Rosario went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, and Nate Roberts, Kennys Vargas and Stephen Wickens each added two hits in the Snappers’

13-hit attack.

Rosario, who just returned off the disabled list, had a two-run triple in the second inning. Vargas hit a solo homer in the big inning, which was his sixth in the last nine games.

The teams continue their series with a 7 p.m. game

today.
