Edgerton High and Janesville Craig’s boys golf team found success at Wednesday’s wet Monona Grove Invitational.

Edgerton, behind Drew Papik’s 5-over 76, finished third with a 314 total.

Craig, thanks to a 2-over 73 from Ryne Clatworthy, tied for fourth at 315.

Milwaukee Marquette University School won the 23-team invite with a 291 total, with Waunakee second at 295.

Stoughton’s Henry Klongland fired a 4-under 67 to win medalist honors by three shots over Waunakee’s Zach Gaugert (70).

In posting its lowest score of the season, Craig battled through the wet conditions. The last five holes were played in a steady drizzle, including a downpour the last three holes.

Clatworthy finished sixth overall after posting his lowest score of the season.

“Ryne struck the ball extremely well today,” Craig coach Dominic Weigel said. “That’s the way he’s capable of playing.

“And Jordan (Gagg) also played well today. Both of those guys hit two of the par 5s with driver, pitching wedge. That means they were really hitting it off the tee.”

Craig returns to Big Eight Conference action Monday against Madison Memorial and Madison West at Odana Hills in Madison.
