Middleton singles players pave way for win
Middleton used its dominant singles lineup to blank Janesville Parker, 7-0, in a Big Eight Conference boys tennis match Tuesday.
“Middleton’s singles are very, very strong,” Parker coach Mike Fuhrmann said. “Our kids did the best they could.”
The Viking doubles teams gave their Cardinal counterparts more of a struggle. Fuhrmann said he made changes to some of the teams, and the results were encouraging.
“I tried Ian (Weiland) and Jordan (Peyer) together, and they looked very good,” Fuhrmann said of the No. 2 doubles combination. “Four of the games in the first set were at deuce. We had some definite positives in our combinations.”
The Vikings return to Big Eight action Tuesday at Beloit.
