Warhawks hit five HRs, sweep Blue Devils

UW-Whitewater’s baseball team played home run derby Sunday afternoon.

The Warhawks belted five home runs in a WIAC doubleheader sweep over UW-Stout at Prucha Field. Whitewater won the first game 12-1, and capped off a four-game weekend sweep with an 11-8 win in game two.

Janesville Parker graduates Matt Beyer and Tyler Teubert played major roles in Whitewater’s win in game one. Beyer had three hits, including a home run, while Teubert scored three runs.

Kyle Stewart went the distance for the Warhawks in game one in improving to 7-0 on the season. He allowed one run and struck out seven.

Jared Fon had three RBI for Whitewater in game two, while Eric Schmitz (4-1) started and picked up the win.

Ben Yaucher and Charlie Meyer, both Janesville Craig gradautes, homered for Stout in game two. Meyer was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in game two.

Whitewater (17-6, 8-2) hosts St. Scholastica in a nonconference doubleheader Tuesday.
