Miguel Sano continues to take care of Midwest League pitching.

The Beloit third baseman hit two homers and drove in five runs to help the Snappers defeat Kane County, 9-7, here Monday afternoon.

Sano has three homers and nine RBIS in the past three games. He opened the season by going 0-for-6 in the Snappers’ opener.

Sano finished second in the Appalachian League in home runs (20) and runs scored (58) and third in RBIs (59) and slugging percentage (.637) last year, which was the 18-year-old’s second minor-league season.

Second baseman Adam Pettersen went 3-for-4, and Jonathan Goncalves and Eddie Rosario joined Sano with two hits apiece. Pettersen is hitting .385 and Rosario is at .375.

The Snappers trailed, 4-2, before taking the lead with a five-run seventh inning.

Goncalves and Eddie Rosario singled with one out in the decisive seventh. Sano then hit an opposite-field homer to right to give the Snappers a

5-4 lead. Daniel Ortiz doubled, Tyler Grimes walked, and Jairo Rodriguez singled to drive home Ortiz.

Adam Pettersen singled home Grimes to make it 7-4.

After the Cougars scored twice in the bottom of the inning to get within 7-6, the Snappers countered with two runs in the eighth thanks to Sano’s second homer.

Goncalves singled and stole second to start the inning. Sano later again homered to right.

Bart Carter earned his first win of the season in relief. Corey Williams earned his first save despite allowing a run in the ninth. Williams struck out two.
