— Miguel Sano showed Beloit Snapper fans why the Minnesota Twins have him pegged as one of the franchise’s upcoming stars.

Sano’s grand slam triggered a five-run seventh-inning, which was enough to give Beloit a 6-1 victory over Peoria in a Midwest League game Friday night at Telfer Park.

The win evened both teams’ records at 1-1.

The game was tied at 1-all when Beloit took control behind Sano’s slam. The blast scored J.D. Williams, Jhon-athan Goncalves, and Eddie Rosario. Rosario had a long at-bat, which resulted in a walk.

Michael Tonkin earned the win in relief. Beloit starter Steven Gruver threw six innings, allowing five hits and one run.

The teams conclude the three-game series today with a 2 p.m. game.
