— The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday identified Howard C. Klewin, 55, Delavan, as the driver killed in a crash Monday night.

Klewin was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m. by the Walworth County Corner’s Office after he was extricated from his vehicle, according to a department news release.

The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Daniel M. Colby, 59, of Harvard, Ill. He was flown from the scene to a Milwaukee-area hospital with serious injuries. An update on his medical condition was not available Tuesday, according to the release.

A spokesperson at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa, told The Gazette no patient by that name was hospitalized there.

A preliminary investigation shows that Klewin was driving a 2012 Chevy Malibu west on Highway 14 when he crossed the centerline and crashed nearly head-on into Colby’s 2010 Toyota Highlander. Colby had to be extricated before being flown from the scene about one mile east of County M.

The crash happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday, according to the release.
