The Janesville Craig girls swim team got a preview of a potential state champion Thursday and experience competing in a pool that it will see twice more this season.

Middleton defeated the visiting Cougars, 132-38, in a Big Eight Conference meet that was moved to Thursday from today.

Craig's top swimmers were Kali Schneider, who was second in the 200 individual medley and third in the 100 breaststroke, and Alexis Roach, who was third in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Cady Gansen was second in the 100 freestyle for the Cougars.

"Middleton will finish in the top three at state," Craig coach Brian Kitzman said. "For us, it was a chance to swim in a fast pool, and we're swimming there for our conference meet and for sectionals."

The Cougars swim at Verona next Thursday in the next Big Eight meet.
