— Police arrested a Janesville man suspected of briefly imprisoning a woman and her baby in the woman’s home near downtown Janesville on Tuesday.

Ken Marshall Sr., 45, no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of battery, false imprisonment and recklessly endangering safety, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.

Police at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday were responding to a 911 hang-up. While police were on the way, a person called 911 and said a man armed with a knife had gone into 26 Harrison St. and locked the door, according to the news release.

The home is between Milwaukee and Court streets near Parker Park.

Police surrounded the home and communicated with Marshall by phone, according to the news release. That allowed the 34-year-old female resident and her 18-month-old baby to get out. Marshall came out of the home a short time later, according to the news release.

All the charges carry a domestic violence enhancer.

Marshall, whose last known address was in Milwaukee, formerly lived with the Janesville woman, according to police records. Marshall was being held on an emergency mental health detention, according to the news release.
