What you need to know about the Coats for Kids Collection
What: Janesville Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Coats for Kids Collection
When: Through Monday, Oct. 17.
Where: Collection barrels have been placed nearly two dozen businesses and at many public schools throughout northern Rock County.
Barrels are at these businesses in Janesville:
-- Dan's Creston Park Laundry, 1603 Randolph Road
-- Sentry Food Store, 2822 E. Milwaukee St. and 2501 W. Court St.
-- ShopKo, 2500 E. Highway 14
-- Hedberg Public Library, 316 S. Main St.
-- Kmart, 2233 Humes Road
-- Choice Cleaners, 610 E. Memorial Drive, 1926 E. Milwaukee St. and 2919 N. Lexington Drive
-- Logli Markets, 1501 Creston Park Drive
-- Pick ’n Save, 1717 Center Ave.
-- Curves for Women, 1800 E. Highway 14
-- Woodman’s, 2819 N. Lexington Drive
-- Culver’s, 2633 Milton Ave.
-- Walgreens, 1717 Milton Ave., 1740 Center Ave., 1933 W. Court St. and 2519 Kettering St.
In Edgerton:
-- Piggly Wiggly, 1211 N. Main St.
In Milton:
-- Piggly Wiggly, 727 S. Janesville St.
These schools also will have collection barrels: Janesville public schools, Milton Middle School, Orfordville Parkview High School, Footville Elementary School and Orfordville Elementary School.
Details: Donations of nearly new and clean child- and adult-size winter coats, snow pants, hats, mittens/gloves, boots, sweatshirts and fleeces will be accepted and give to children in need who live in northern Rock County communities.
Distribution: Winter clothing distribution will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Salvation Army’s community center, 514 Sutherland Ave., Janesville.
Those in need of assistance must sign up from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, or 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, at the Salvation Army to receive help. Each family will be given an appointment to receive winter clothing items.
