Tickets on sale for Lombardi event

— Vince Lombardi, the legendary Green Bay Packers coach, addressed a packed house at Janesvilleís former Marshall Middle School on Feb. 26, 1969.

An entourage of special guests will celebrate Lombardiís Janesville appearance at 7 p.m. this Wednesday at the Janesville Performing Arts Center.

Lombardiís final appearance in Wisconsin was in the middle school auditorium, which is now JPAC. Lombardi left the state to be the coach and general manager of the Washington Redskins.

The two-hour program includes highlights from the HBO ďLombardiĒ documentary, a motivational speech from Lombardi impersonator Joe Pineto, John OíNeill of Middleton dressed as St. Vince, Janesvilleís Joe Kuhar, a candidate for the Packersí Fan Hall of Fame, Gary Martin, who voluntarily cares for Lombardiís grave in Red Bank, N.J. and other Green Bay Packer fanatics.

Lombardiís daughter, Susan Lombardi, will dedicate a plaque to commemorate her fatherís appearance.

The event features a silent auction of Lombardi and Packer paraphernalia, including CD copies of Lombardiís speech. Al Fagerli, sports director of WCLO, is the master of ceremonies.

Tickets are $10 each and on sale at the JPAC ticket office, 408 South Main Street, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Tuesday.
