Craig, Parker fall in Big Eight swimming

Madison Memorial handed Janesville Craig its first loss Friday in Big Eight Conference dual meet girls swimming.

The visiting Spartans rolled to a 120-50 victory to drop Craig to 4-1 in the Big Eight.

“Memorial has a pretty deep team,” Craig coach Brian Kitzman said. “The girls went into this meet with a pretty good attitude.’’

Craig’s top finishers included Kali Schneider third in the 200 freestyle (2:06.45) and second in the butterfly (1:05.54). Alexis Roach second in the 500 freestyle (5:38.60), Sierra Rhodes third in the 200 individual medley (2:30.45), Kara Chung third in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.54) and Elizabeth Hazekamp third in the 100 backstroke (1:11.38).

Craig travels to the Fort Atkinson Invitational at 10 a.m. today.

Parker falls to Verona

The Janesville Parker High School girls swimming team lost to Verona, 137-33, Friday in a Big Eight Conference dual meet.

Verona won all eleven events. Parker’s Sara Gosline took third in the 50-meter freestyle (30.63), Hailey Leisten third in the 400 freestyle (1:09.2) and Leslie Jones third in the 400 freestyle (5:20.65).
