— Janesville Parker’s girls volleyball team wasn’t able to defeat unbeaten Verona on Thursday night, but the Vikings did throw a scare into the Wildcats.

Parker won game three to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Verona pulled away in game four for a 3-1 Big Eight Conference win.

“Our girls showed up to play, and that’s what I wanted to see,” Parker coach Dave Lehmann said. “We told them all week how good Verona was, and they were ready for them.

“We didn’t play our best in the second game (25-7 loss), but we played well in the other three games. Despite the loss, it was a positive night.”

Parker is 9-17-2 overall and 1-5 in the Big Eight.
