— Milton High School celebrated a rare dual-meet victory over Madison Edgewood during the Badger South girls golf regular season, but the Crusaders were determined not to be the Red Hawks’ victim again at the conference tournament Wednesday at Evansville Golf Club.

“I think it (our victory) definitely put a little fuel on their fire,” Milton coach Andrea Wieland said. “They were not going to lose.’’

Lexi Greytak carded a 1-under-par 71 to lead Edgewood to a 320 team total for the South championship.

Milton’s Stephanie Stair carded a 5-over 77 as Milton finished second with a 349—29 strokes behind Edgewood.

Greytak was 2 over at the turn with a 38 but roared through the back nine with a 3-under 33. Stephanie Stair fired a 4-over 40 in the front and came home with a 1-under 37.

Laura Stair fired a season-best 81, while teammates Maddie McCue and Sarah Dorr carded 94 and 97, respectively , for Milton.

Greytak, Stephanie Stair, Laura Stair, Becky Klongland of Stoughton, Tess Hackworthy and Caroline Lake of Edgewood and McKenzie Parks of Oregon were named all-conference.
