West wears down determined Janesville Parker

Janesville Parker High School played determined volleyball against visiting Madison West but could not turn the corner Tuesday night in a 3-0 Big Eight Conference loss.

“We played well the first two games,” Parker coach Dave Lehmann said. “We did a lot of good things, but we couldn’t get over the hump.’’

Parker lost 25-21, 25-19, 25-10. The Vikings fell to 1-4 in the Big Eight and 9-16-2 overall.

Ashley Hartwig had 18 kills, and Claire Fox posted 21 assists for Parker.

Parker travels to undefeated conference-leading Verona on Thursday.

Craig (1-4) tied the match with a 25-22 win in Game 2.

“It’s the same animal for us,” Craig coach Blake Budrow said. “We start slow and have to battle back the entire match.

“Games 3 and 4 could’ve gone either way, but they made the plays at the end when it counted,” he said of the Lancers.

Budrow praised the play of setter Katie Villa and outside hitter Regan Sitorius.

Craig hosts Madison Memorial on Thursday night.
