Beloit Memorial High School’s boys soccer team made three first-half goals stand up here Tuesday night against Janesville Parker.

The Vikings came charging back from a 3-1 deficit, but the Purple Knights held on for a 3-2 nonconference victory.

Parker (0-9-1) cut Beloit’s lead to one on Carlos Sagrero’s goal at 52:56 of the second half but could not get another shot past goalie Ivan Perez.

“Beloit’s a quality team that beat us 10-0 earlier this season,” Parker coach Andy Holmes said. “We actually outshot them, 31-9, but could not finish. But I was pleased with the way we played.”

Parker hosts Sun Prairie in a Big Eight Conference game at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Not sure how Parker could have outshot Beloit 31-9 when the saves were 14 for Parker and 9 for BM. That implies there were at least 17 shots on goal for Beloit and 11 for Parker. This is either a mis-statement by the coach, or a mistake by the Gazette staff.

Parker played an excellent game and executed defensively really well. The win catapulted Beloit Memorial to 13-5 on the season and clinched their third consecutive Beloit/Janesville Cup Challenge with one game remaining!
