Seniors have a new tool for fighting the flu.

Rock County Health Department Nursing Director Janet Zoellner says a new high-dose vaccine gives seniors over age 65 an added boost.

Zoellner says those over age 65 need an added boost of vaccine because of weakened immune systems.

Zoellner says there are no indications this year's flu season will be any worse than normal, but she says that can change. An average flu season claims 25,000 lives.

The Rock County Health Department is taking appointments for flu vaccinations.
