Delavan-Darien, Deerfield win area volleyball invitationals

Janesville Parker High School’s girls volleyball team finished third in the Delavan-Darien Invitational on Saturday.

The Vikings compiled a 3-2 record, with wins over Delavan-Darien, Lake Geneva Badger and Wilmot.

Despite the loss to Parker, Delavan-Darien won the tournament with a 4-1 record.

Parker got 43 kills from Ashley Hartwig and 23 digs from Claire Gorman.

“We’re getting a little better week by week, and that’s the most important thing,” Parker coach Dave Lehmann said. “We had a chance to win the whole thing today, but came up short our last match.”

Parker will play at Verona in a Big Eight Conference match Tuesday night.

n Deerfield wins Taylor Invitational; Craig seventh—Deerfield went 6-1 to win Saturday’s Taylor Invitational in Edgerton on Saturday. The Demons only loss was to Lakeside Lutheran, which finished third with a 5-2 record. Walworth Big Foot was second with a 6-1 record.

Craig’s only victory was over Clinton.
